Islamic Relief has come a long way since it received its first donation of 20p back in 1984. Only a year later we had raised ₤100 000 and today Islamic Relief raises £90 million a year. In addition to this, our child sponsorship programme has grown considerably over the years. In 1989 Islamic Relief was sponsoring 60 orphans in Kenya. Today this number has risen to 27 000 children worldwide. With 360 development projects running in 35 countries the number of our beneficiaries has surpassed 2 million. Over time Islamic Relief’s resources have grown to provide aid to millions of people affected by humanitarian crises around the globe.

Islamic Relief has come a long way since our humble beginnings in 1984, when we opened our first office in the UK with a few dedicated volunteers to having over 100 branches in 40 countries worldwide with over 2,000 employees today. And this is all because you made it happen. You, the volunteer, the donor, the employee, the beneficiary, the supporter… it is you who has brought us to this credible juncture in our history.
