Overview
Chechnya

Over 1000,000 Chechens have been killed during conflict with Russia. Many fled the country, living in refugee camps in nearby Ingushetia, but after the closure of these camps, those returning home found their homes destroyed along with much of the country’s vital infrastructure.

Security is a major issue, as are human rights violations, with NGOs reporting widespread torture, extrajudicial executions, abductions and forced disappearances.
