Overview
Kosova

The Kosova crisis represented one of the worst humanitarian disasters to hit Europe since the Second World War. Thousands of Kosovar Albanians were killed and of the many who fled the region most returned to discover their homes and livelihoods had been destroyed.

Conditions remain critical with mass unemployment and thousands of widows and orphans struggling to support themselves. Around half of the population lives in abject poverty.
