Salim’s story
Salim’s story (30 October 2008)

Salim, a 32 year- old farm labourer and his wife Mohran Bi Bi have six children; the eldest is 14 years-old and the youngest is just two. Before Cyclone Nargis struck, they lived in their own house in Taw Khayan Lay village, in Kungyangon Township.

Salim used to earn around 2,000 Kyat a day (less than $2) and the family struggled to meet their needs. Sometimes, he worked in the local paddy fields, sometimes as a tractor driver on local farms.
