Hopeless
“We were out on the road with nothing but a sheet to protect us from the rain and cold. We were hopeless and were not sure if anyone would come to help us. It felt like we were between life and death.
Now we have more hope. We’ve been given food and shelter, but I have no source of income. My children cannot go to school as I can’t afford to pay their fees. My generous neighbours support me in any way they can, but they too have little to give.
Bride to widow
My daughter, who married a few months before the earthquake, lost her husband in the earthquake. Her in-laws did not want her after her husband’s death so she is now here living with me too. She doesn’t know what her future will hold or if she will ever find a sincere partner.
My children and I will always be praying for Islamic Relief. They helped us when we lost hope. They saved our lives. We will never be able to thank them enough for what they have done.”
