Islamic Relief has launched its Australia office. The grand opening was attended by Australian Government Ministers, voluntary sector figures and Muslim community leaders.

Islamic Relief Australia was officially launched on 13th May by Mr Victor Dominello, Minister for Citizenship and Community Affairs. Islamic Relief Worldwide, the world’s largest Islamic charity has been working in over 33 countries to respond to emergencies and promote sustainable economic and social development by working with local communities. Islamic Relief has also responded to disasters and emergencies from the Pakistan floods to the Haiti earthquake and the Mississippi floods.

‘With the help of our generous donors, we help people who are suffering regardless of religion, ethnicity, gender, expecting nothing in return’ said Saleh Saeed, CEO of Islamic Relief Worldwide.

The Australia office will be based in Auburn, south Australia and joins the Islamic Relief family of Partner Offices that are based in 14 countries. The Islamic Relief Australia Office will focus on fundraising for humanitarian causes and help support Islamic Relief’s emergency and development programs.

With the support of hundreds of thousands of individual donors as well as international institutions, IRW has succeeded in implementing 360 development projects around the world. It hopes the new Islamic Relief Australia office will play a significant role in the poverty eradication agenda.
