Recognition of Islamic Relief’s Global Work

Andrew Mitchell Shadow International Development Secretary

The visit was recognition of the fantastic amount of work that Islamic Relief has done for some of the world’s poorest people. This meeting was not just about the past; it was also about the future as we explained our ambitions on behalf of each and every one of our beneficiaries.

Islamic Relief is active on the ground

The last several years have seen many disasters; the Tsunami, the Earthquake in Kashmir and the refugee crises across Darfur & Chad to name but a few.  Islamic Relief is working on the ground in its aim not only to rebuild lives, but also to provide hope for a better future.

Hamayoon Sultan, Development Education Co-ordinator at Islamic Relief says:

“It was a great privilege to welcome Andrew Mitchell MP to our international headquarters in Birmingham.  We enjoyed this opportunity that we were given to tell the Shadow Minister about our global humanitarian and aid projects.  We hope that we can work together in the future to bring the hopes and aspirations of our beneficiaries to life”.

Forging links with decision makers

This meeting was part of Islamic Relief’s desire to forge stronger links with key decision makers; and to work together with them to provide help to some of the world’s neediest people”.

The poor are still there…..they still need our help

Although this visit is recognition of our work, it is by no means an excuse for Islamic Relief to rest.  We must continue to work tirelessly for our beneficiaries across the world.  To achieve this, we need the continued support of our donor community.

A recent visit to Africa by Islamic Relief staff showed an extremely courageous and dignified people.  Their only wish is to be given the opportunity to look after themselves.  Please help Islamic Relief to rebuild these peoples lives, and to give them back the dignity of being able to provide for themselves and their families.
