Islamic Relief UK hosts visit from Foreign Office

Sir Peter Ricketts, the Permanent Undersecretary of State at the UK’s Foreign & Commonwealth Office, recently visited Islamic Relief’s Headquarters in Birmingham.

Recognising the work that Islamic Relief does not only abroad but also in the UK; Sir Peter first met with Jehangir Malik, Islamic Relief’s UK Manager; and with Haroun Atallah, the Chief Executive.


This was followed by a meeting with a large group of young Muslim professionals at a prominent Birmingham restaurant, where he discuss the difficulties and challenges faced by British Muslims.

Discussing change

Anxious to learn more about the problems faced by British Muslims, Sir Peter listened attentively as young Muslims candidly explained what they felt were the challenges, and what was needed to improve the situation.


Very Pleased

Islamic Relief is delighted to be working at the highest levels of government to bring about positive change for the community. Sir Peter himself was very pleased with the meeting; and Islamic Relief hopes that we will continue to work with him and others to put forward the case for British Muslims.
