Snowdon Challenge 2: Sisters raise a staggering £30,770
24/08/07
In the midst of one of the wettest ever summers, sisters from around the UK took part in a challenge to hike up Mount Snowdon to raise funds for Africa. Taking part in three groups (Bradford, Birmingham and London), a total of 154 sisters completed the trek, braving wet, windy and cold weather conditions to successfully accomplish the challenge.

challenge! I attempted the climb with the London group on 18th August – it was rainy, windy and cold – the worst trekking weather. At one point the wind was so strong that the rain was stinging our faces and we couldn’t take the next steps. But it was a real reminder that we are not used to hardships living as we do, and we often forget that there are many millions of people around the world who are not sheltered from such torrential weather.”
“I took the fundraising seriously, as I really wanted to bring focus to the plight of those stricken by war and poverty in Africa whom Islamic Relief is trying to assist. I managed to raise over ₤1,400 with the donations and sponsorships of many people. May Allah (swt) reward us all for our efforts, ameen. This experience was a reminder and a real challenge, and I will probably be thinking about it again next year.”
