Overview
Lebanon

After being shattered by over 15 years of civil war, Lebanon had just begun to recover when the July 2006 conflict occurred. This month-long conflict killed an estimated 1,000 Lebanese people and injured around four thousand. The majority of these people were civilians.

Much of southern Beirut was destroyed and vital infrastructure wiped out. Many lost not only their homes, but their livelihoods too.

Around a million people fled their homes and many are still displaced. Increasing numbers of Palestinian refugees are heightening an already fragile economic situation.
