The years of conflict faced by the Palestinian people show no sign of relenting; in fact many believe that the humanitarian situation is worse now than it has been at any time since 1967.

Violence and fear are a part of ordinary life. Poverty and unemployment are endemic.

Around half the population of Palestine are thought to be living below the poverty line. Many survive without access to the most basic of human necessities.
