A creative child
Ahmed was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome at six months old. He did not walk until he was one and a half and did not talk until he was four.
Ahmed’s family cannot afford to send him to school summer camp, but he is a creative child so he spends his summers drawing, raising his pet birds, making kites and helping his mother with the household chores.
Ahmed’s mother was hit in the leg by a bullet during conflict in the region. The bullet hit an artery and has led to difficulties with her breathing and mobility. Her husband died in 2005. Her eldest son Yousif had to take responsibility for the family. Yousif is now supported by IR. IR sponsorship for Ahmed heps ease Yousif's burden.
“This family is really indebted to your support, especially in these harsh conditions. I lost my job and I have no idea how we are going to live, except for Islamic Relief’s assistance. What really matters is my little brother Ahmed,” says Yousif.
