Qurbani prices are calculated by local IR staff who assess the price of livestock in their country. One sheep or goat is equivalent to one Qurbani and one cow is equivalent to seven Qurbanis.
Which animals are chosen depends on factors such as affordability, availability, quality and variances in local diet.
The animals are bought from local farmers, slaughtered and distributed locally. In countries where it is not possible to carry out the Qurbani (due to local restrictions or in conflict situations) canned meat is distributed. The animals used for canning are sacrificed according to Islamic guidelines, cleaned and cooked at an halal factory in New Zealand.
