  Ramadan in Al Aqsa

On 3 and 10 September 2009, Islamic Relief Palestine fed more than 4,000 people at the Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem as part of our ‘Feed the Fasting’ project.

By the Grace of Allah and the generous support of Islamic Relief donors, thousands of people were able to break their fast at Islam’s third holiest site.

In a time of serious economic hardships, the meals of staple foods such as rice, chicken, yoghurt, dates and bread were well received by the local people.

Ramadan is the ninth month in the Islamic calendar during which Muslims fast between the hours of sunrise and sunset. It is one of the five obligatory pillars of Islam and helps people empathise with those who regularly go without food.
