The
President of the Republic of Malawi, Dr Bakili
Muluzi, has expressed his sincere appreciation
of Islamic Relief’s aid work in Malawi.
In a letter addressed to Islamic
Relief’s President, Dr Hany El Banna,
the Malawi President referred to IR’s
agricultural and irrigation projects, calling
the work “timely and overwhelming”.
Dr Muluzi went on to urge the
organisation to continue in its efforts as Malawi
faces a severe famine. Nearly 3.5 million people
in the country are in desperate need of food.
Working in partnership with
the ZamZam Foundation, Islamic Relief is concentrating
its work in the Zomba district of southern Malawi.
IR is working to address the long- and short-term
needs of almost 19,000 people, across 10 villages.
