What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a simple scheme that allows a charity to increase the value of your donations by 28% - at no extra cost to you. With Gift Aid, a £100 donation becomes £128.00 - giving us an additional £28.00 to spend on building a better future. All that is required is a one off declaration from you that can be made by post, oral or online and we'll do the rest.

How do I know if I'm a Tax payer?
You are a UK tax payer if:
1. Tax is taken from your wages or salary before you receive your pay.
2. You have to fill in a self-assessment form each year.
3. You have any taxable savings (in a Building Society, for instance), or a pension plan, or investment income.
4. If you have recently paid any capital gains tax, or expect to pay it in the near future. This could be on the sale of a property or some shares,        for example.

From April 2004, you will be able to use your self assessment tax return form nominating Islamic Relief to receive the other 18%. The code for Islamic Relief is RAG42LG.

What if I'm a lower rate tax payer?
If you pay a lower rate (10 per cent or 20 per cent), Islamic Relief can still claim back 28p for each £1 you donate, provided you pay enough    tax to cover the claim in the tax year you make the gift(s).

Why does it work out 28p for every pound given?
The payment for £1 is treated as the net after tax from £1.28 (£1.28 minus 22 per cent is approximately £1). Islamic Relief gets back the 28    pence.
