ISLAMIC RELIEF
Four Scottish Schools Win Eid Card Competition

12/01/08

A Scottish initiative, supported by Islamic Relief, to engage schoolchildren in designing Eid Cards received a fantastic response.

Winning schools

Four schools; Broomhill Primary, Middleton Primary, Danestone Primary, and Mile End Primary, all emerged victorious in this competition.

Organised by volunteers

A noteworthy difference in this event was that it was conceived of and organised entirely by volunteers in Glasgow. Feeling that they had to do something, they got up and made a difference. As a result of their efforts, many people in Bangladesh will have been given hope to counter their despair.

Prominent Judges

Judged by three leading local figures; Pamela Carter of John Lewis, Katie MacPherson of AVC, and also by the Head of Northfield Academy, this competition produced entries of the highest standard.

No losers

Although there were four eventual winners chosen, there were no losers as everyone distinguished themselves with the standard of their entries.

Islamic Relief hopes that the competition will encourage the children to continue to develop their creative faculties in the future; as well as having hopefully left them with a positive image of Muslims.
