ISLAMIC RELIEF EVENT
Have you ever wanted to jump out of a plane for charity? Well this year, you can – for Islamic Relief
19/06/07

Eleven brave (or rather foolish depending on how one looks at it) individuals last year

agreed to jump out of a plane from 10,000 feet, for charity.

Photos exist of the fear on their faces as they watched a previous group make their jumps.  Yet their stories of the jump itself and their feelings afterwards, are only of a complete rush!

Islamic Relief is looking to organise another event this year and you too can take part.  The jumps are tandem; this means that an instructor is tied to your back, and their job is to control the jump – ensuring that you enjoy the experience.

In other words, you wouldn’t be doing the jump on your own – even if you were crazy enough to want to!

Due to a lack of female instructors however, this event is unfortunately men only.

Opportunities exist however for women to take part in Islamic Relief fundraising activities.  One such activity is a climb of Mount Snowdon on 21st July; for which further information can be obtained by phoning 0121 380 2380, or by going to our Snowdon website at www.irsnowdon.kk5.org.

Back to jumping out of a plane

Below are two quotes from people who made the jump last year:

Parachute Jump

“It was incredible! I was really nervous but as soon as I was out of the plane it was the best feeling in the world. I felt so free, yet so secure.”

“Amazing; out of this world! The free fall was by far the best bit as I felt like I was Superman for a minute of my life.”
