Checkpoints,
roadblocks and the construction of a 700km wall have restricted movement and
many Palestinians cannot travel to work, sell goods at market or even access
water.
The
Palestinian Authority (PA) was the biggest employer in the Palestinian
territories but the embargo has led to a 60% drop in its income.
PA is
now unable to pay salaries, leading to the deterioration of services. Four
hundred doctors in Gaza
have lost their jobs because there is no money to pay them.
