Medicine for Malak

27 March 2008

Malak, aged four, lives with her mother, Gameela, and six siblings, in Sana’a, Yemen. Malak’s father died sometime ago. Gameela’s mother helps the family out from time to time, but besides this the family’s only income was from social security. This money did not cover their basic needs and the family often went without food or ate only bread.

The house they live in is owned by the family of Malak’s late father. They pay no rent, but have no security. The house is old and contains just two rooms. The water tank leaks and they have to store water in small containers all over the house.
