Li had a cold on the day of the earthquake and was taking a nap in her classroom when the room began to shake. At first Li thought her friends were joking by shaking her desk but when she heard her teacher shouting “Earthquake!” she ran to safety as quickly as she could.

Li’s father was killed in the earthquake. He was at work at a plastic factory and was buried under the rubble when the building collapsed.

The family’s three room house was destroyed.

“My family now stays in a small and hot tent and there is no room for me to do my homework.

“Before Islamic Relief’s help we were studying in tents. The temperature in the tents was up to 40 degrees so we only studied in the morning.

“Thanks to those kind-hearted people who helped us to build such a beautiful school,” Li says.
